Please continue to pray for Heather Butz wife of Rotarian Ted Butz who was in a terrible horseback riding accident.  She had another surgery and has some feeling in her hands and feet.

Please continue to pray for Rotarian Kevin Noll of the West End Rotary Club who lost his home in a horrible house fire.  A Go Fund Me account was set up for him.  Go to http://www.gofundme.com/2kwnmm5w for more information.
What happened last week?

50/50 - Mike Katz was called to find the Queen.  Did he do it.....HE SURE DID!  $162 was won and then donated to foundation.  Thank you Mike!

Our speaker was Traore from the African country of Mali.  The "dry season" is very long but he irrigated his farm to grow pineapples, magos, papaya and other fruits.  He has started to use solar panels to create the electricity to power his well pumps.  He plants crops according to growth height.  The taller plants provide shade for the shorter plants in this very hot and dry climate.  He digs his wells himself to a depth of 30'.In his four fish ponds he has tilapia fish  Mali has farm land for these willing to work hard and grow crops.  He sells plants for others to grow.  He took a wood chipper back to Mali last year to make compost for crops to feed his cows.

Make the most of your Rotary membership

August is Membership Month, a time to celebrate your club, your members, and the good you do in your community and around the world! Many people join Rotary to serve others locally and globally. Rotary allows members to make a difference while promoting fellowship and international understanding.

We offer many programs that allow you to engage with fellow members and make new connections outside your club and district. Here are just a few ways to get more involved:

In 2016-17, our Rotary Foundations turns 100.  That’s a century of Rotary members changing lives and improving communities all over the world.  And that’s definitely something work celebrating.  Our district is going to have a Foundation Event on Nov. 12, 2016 to celebrate our Foundation.    We are looking for Rotarians from the district that have marketing and solicitation skills to serve on the committee and help make this event a huge success.  If you are interested in serving on the committee please email me at mbentler@nbtbank.com or call me on 570-862-6331.

RI News
Though Atlanta has seen its share of violence and inequity over time, today it brims with reminders that there is another way. Get inspired while you’re visiting for the 2017 Rotary International Convention from 10 to 14 June. Take a short walk from the convention center to the Center for Civil and Human Rights. There, you can see the handwritten notes, speeches, and sermons of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., experience an interactive 1960s-era lunch counter “sit-in,” and learn more about persecuted groups all over the world. A streetcar will take you to the Martin Luther King Jr...
