RECAP
Kenneth Long, ESU President, shared the 4 strategic areas of focus for ESU:  Develop a Culture of Student Success, Foster a Community of Belonging, Optimize Information Technology, and Create an Engaged and Motivated Workplace. Aligned with this focus, ESU is one of only 3 schools (Westchester and Slippery Rock being the others) that is growing their student bodies in PA, with now approx. 6,000 students.  ESU is a great asset to Monroe County and PA.  80% of graduates, including teachers and nurses, stay in the region/Pennsylvania.  The 168,000 square foot community center has received the state certificate of occupancy and is working towards the East Stroudsburg borough’s certificate.  It will house a 360-person ballroom, 100-person movie theatre, meditation area, lactate space, veterans center, ROTC, and Chick-fil-A.  ESU brings about 50,000 people to the area each year, who spend money at hotels and restaurants, helping our community’s economics.  Further for the community, the Theatre and Performing Arts Center offers $20 tickets for shows and once the community center is completed ESU will partner with organizations like Rotary to have more community participation.
