  • Addressing the cause of climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases
  • Strengthening ecosystems and communities affected by climate change

Recap April 2, 2026
Recap:
Katie Kearney from Alzheimer's Association thanked Rotary International for $2.5 million from the Alzheimer Walk.  Sept. 28 is the local walk, at NCC.  More information is available here
Over 7 million people suffer with Alzheimer's and there are over 11 million unpaid caregivers.  Dementia is not a normal part of aging.  Early detection is essential as changes in lifestyle and medication can slow progression.  Brain Health is critical and there is some good news: (1) The US Pointer Study showed improved cognition in older adults with specific interventions.  More information is available here, (2) Alzheimer Association is working to have Medicare cover the first FDA approved blood test to aid in diagnosis.  More information is available here, and (3) healthy habits can lower the risk of developing cognitive decline.  10 Healthy Habits for Your Brain can be found here.  The Alzheimer's Association Great PA Chapter is hosting a Healthy Living Summit Saturday, Aprill 11 from 9 am - 12 pm in Kingston.  Registration is here. ~Grace D'Amico

ROTARIANS IN ACTION:
Multiple thanks to all the volunteers for both Valor and Maddy's Angels, pictured in last week's bulletin, who completed their volunteer efforts this week.  Dave Yarish shared his 2 year involvement with Meals on Wheels as another example of Rotarians In Action.  Grace and Danica marched with Safe Monroe/ESU from Courthouse Square to ESU Thursday evening in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Congratulations to Mike Raub for completing PELS. President Elect Leadership Service training.
We look forward to see what he has in store for the upcoming year!
