Strong Voices—Strong Club
From November onward, the Monrotary, which is Stroudsburgs Rotary’s information center… will feature articles submitted by members. On October 15th members were asked to join in Raising Our Voices for Rotary by submitting stories of service.  The idea is to share the benefits of serving while taking part in service projects such as… Roadside Cleanup, Delivering Lunches to School Children, United Way Projects, Maddy’s Kitchen, Project Healing Waters or any other Service Project you desire to share.
Here are some other ideas for articles…
November          Giving Thanks
December           The Gift (s) of
January                New Horizons OR Wishes
February              Love Connections

What to Do…
Simply submit approximately 100 words before the end of each month to be included in the following month’s Monrotary. Send to KwanzaaMama@gmail.com with that month’s theme in the subject box.

Don’t be concerned about your writing… speak from the heart and an editor will do the rest. Add a photo if possible. I am excitedly looking forward to some great stories.

Mikayla's Voice
Our guest speaker was Kimberly Resh, the founder of Kimberly's Voice, an advocacy group dedicated to inclusion and accessibility. Mikayla was Kim's daughter born with cerebral palsy. She wanted to ensure that Mikayla's life would be as normal as possible. Over time, this group was formed and one of its primary focuses is to give talks to school assemblies emphasizing how people with different abilities would not only be accepted but understood to make inclusion and accessibility a possibility. The group has also published books for use in home and classrooms. Her email is kim@mikaylasvoice.org.

Polio Talk
Since October is Polio Awareness month, there has been a talk every week to educate members about international polio initiatives. Last week Rotarian Herline Raphael told us about symptoms of polio and its devastating effects leading to death or permanent disabilities for survivors. There is no cure and can be infectious. The only way for the international community to control this disease is vaccination. Herline shared her experience with us in Haiti on her medical mission trips. Today it is a mandate that every child in Haiti gets a vaccine.
Community Day
Several Rotarians responded to the call for action on October 17. Four Rotarians responded to the project was at the Loder Building in East Stroudsburg. This was an outdoor landscaping project. Sonny Riley, Gene Prospero, Andy and Lisa Kulba, all new members, joined forces to beautify the area outside the Loder Building.

In Snydersville, Bob Lear, Karen DeMatteo, David and Ann Super applied a base coat floor prep for the Meals on Wheels new extension. Rotarians are People of Action.
Reverse Raffle
Don Hannig and his committee are hard at work at pulling together an awesome Reverse Raffle. The event will be at the Armory on 271 Washington St in East Stroudsburg. Only the first 200 tickets received will be in the raffle. At this point, all Stroudsburgs Rotarians should have received two tickets. More are available upon request. In addition to the top 3 cash prizes of $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000, there will be overnight stays, gift certificates, LED flat screen TV and more prizes. Please contact any local business or restaurant that would be willing to donate any additional prizes. This was a great event last year and promises to be even better this year with your help. This is our major fundraiser so that we in turn can help our community through our Stroudsburgs Rotary Foundation.
