President's Corner
Interim President Ken Long
Interim President Ken Long provides some great insights as to the current situation at East Stroudsburg University (ESU). He discussed the Strategic Plan, Pillars of Excellence and current trends at the University. COVID has had a tremendous impact on students, faculty and administration making significant challenges. ESU's currently has 5,200 students pursuing undergraduate, Master's and doctorate programs. There are 7,500 full time employees and 200-300 contractors at any given time. Currently there is a mix of in-person and virtual learning experiences.
Reverse Raffle
Our biggest fundraiser, The Reverse Raffle, will once again be held at the Armory, 271 Washington St, East Stroudsburg, PA. 200 tickets will be available. The top three cash prizes are $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000. To make the event more interesting, smaller prizes are also needed. If you are willing to donate, please see Don Hannig for items such as gift certificates or items from local stores, businesses or restaurants.  These prizes make for a more interesting event as who doesn't like to win something? Please help make this a successful event by purchasing tickets, donating or coordinating with a local business or restaurant to make a donation. The raffle will be held November 7, 2021. More information will be available as we get closer.
Library Book Sale Set Up
This year the Friends of Eastern Monroe Public Library heard the people who usually help set up for the annual book sale were unavailable. The Community Service Team heard about the situation and responded. This is a huge job requiring a lot of people power to move hundreds of boxes of books and furniture. A big thank you to Rotarians Leslie Underhill, Pete Andrews, Stacy Rodriguez, Dave and Ann Super for stepping up and helping out. This job could not have been done without you. The Friends are extremely grateful for your responsiveness and support. The Book Sale runs this week from Saturday to Wednesday in the Community Room of the Library. A lot of choices and very affordable rates. Happy Reading.
Roadside Cleanup
This Saturday September 25 at 8:00 am Stroudsburgs Rotary will meet once again for the annual fall roadside cleanup.
This time we will NOT meet at the Sunoco Station on W. Main St.  Instead, we will meet in the parking lot behind First Keystone Bank, 559 Main St, Stroudsburg.
Rotarian Gene Prospero will be leading this event.  If you have any questions please e-mail him at:
The Stroudsburg High School Interact Club had their first meeting. PDG Karen DeMatteo is the Club's liaison and Moira Loughman (PDG Joe Loughman's daughter) is the faculty advisor. Here's to a great year to our talented future leaders.
Eagle Scouts
President Don Hannig requested support for members to represent Stroudsburgs Rotary at any upcoming Court of Honor presentation for Eagle Scouts in our area. Rotarian Clarence "Murph" Murphy faithfully represented Stroudsburgs Rotary for over 25 years. Now they're requesting others to share in this experience. Let President Don or Rotarian Ed Schaefer know if you are willing to represent Stroudsburgs Rotary at this most important milestone event for Scouts who worked so diligently.
Lunch meeting at Sycamore Grill, 92 Main St, Delaware Water Gap at 1145.
