Featured Speaker & Announcements
President's Corner
Greetings fellow Rotarians!
So we have one month officially in the books and it was jam-packed with activities!  We hosted the District Banner Exchange where our very own Karen DeMatteo was inducted as District Governor, Kin Roberts was named Rotarian of the Year, we said "cheers" to our outgoing President Lucille Piggott-Prawl and welcomed myself as the new President of the Greatest Rotary Club of the World, we inducted our 2019-2020 Board Members, hosted our annual Project Healing Waters event, had some great speakers and FUN at our meetings!  Whew!  What will August hold in store for us???
Well, some of the exciting things we have coming up are the Railriders Strike Out Polio baseball game (get your tickets NOW for only $12), our club Picnic at the Parkers, Stroudfest, Bob Wehe Memorial Blood Drive and Pints and Pinot for Polio.   Speaking of the blood drive, if you plan on donating, DON'T DONATE NOW...just wait until September 9th!  We also have the opportunity to help out friends at the West End Rotary during the West End Fair (details coming soon)!  Mark your calendars now and keep your eye out each week for the MonRotary for other fun and exciting announcements!
Rotary gives us the opportunity to CONNECT with others. Why not join a committee to connect with other Rotarians and the community?  Not sure which one?  Start the conversation with your fellow members and you just might find your calling!  See  you all tomorrow!

2019-2020 President
American Cancer Society Updates
Jim Matheson from the American Cancer Society spoke to the club about the restructuring of the organization over the last several years.  He discussed the high need for transportation volunteers to help bring patients to and from their appointments.  They have also closed their office in Stroudsburg since they are mostly on the road raising money.  In 2019 they expect to give 75-100 patients rides covering 130,000 miles.  They currently are still using the last 2 vans donated by our club.
New Satellite Member Inducted
New Satellite member Jonathan Kulick, sponsored by his mom Gail Kulick was inducted last week.  He is an EMT with the Bushkill Ambulance Corp.  Foundation chair Jim Becker presented him with a grant for a EZ 10 Gun for the ambulance.  It's a device that assists with access to a vein on a trauma patient when regular intravenous access cannot be obtained.  This was a grant from the 2018-2019 fundraising year.

Books for the NICU
Rotarian Jessica C. Peetz is collecting hard cover and hard paged books for the NICU at Geisinger Wyoming Valley where her soon to be 4 year old stayed for 38 days after she was born.  The books can be shared amongst the families as they read to their babies and disinfected since the pages are hard.  If you are able to donate to celebrate Hailey's birthday, please let Jessica know.  She is collecting up until August 16th.  Huggs and Love!

Let's hear about WHY you JOINED Rotary and WHY you STAYED a ROTARIAN!  The marketing committee would like to do features of our members.  We would do a Facebook Live video to have it recorded, and include it on our website, MonRotary and District Newsletter.  Email if you would like to participate!  If you have any questions, call Jessica at 570-269-2891.
