Definition of Rotary
If someone asks you “What Is Rotary?  How would you describe the organization? The following might be helpful.
In 1976 the Rotary International Board of Directors decided to commission the creation of a concise definition of Rotary. They engaged the three men who were then serving on Rotary's Public Relations Committee to generate a one-sentence definition of Rotary. After numerous drafts, the committee presented the following definition, which has been used ever since. It reads:
Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.”
In that same vein... the chairs of Stroudsburgs Rotary Recently created the following Mission and Vision Statements:
The Mission of the Stroudsburgs Rotary
To serve our local and international communities by identifying their needs and implementing projects in response.  In giving back, we strengthen these communities through helping to build long term capacity.
The Vision of the Stroudsburgs Rotary
We unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Hope you remember these definitions when someone asks, "What is Rotary?"
All the Best…

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a way for Rotarians to come
together and learn more about Rotary and leadership that will
benefit not only as they navigate Rotary, but also in their everyday lives.
The sessions are broken into I, II, III and Graduate courses that can
be taken over the course of one or several years. With our current
situation, sessions are now being held virtually rather than in person.
There are 3 upcoming RLIs that you can attend as a first timer with
session I, or to continue from a session you might have taken in the
past. The next is Saturday February 6th from 9am to 2pm right in
your own home. The cost is $25 which we ask that you pay upfront
when you register. Then after you attend the session, submit your
receipt to our treasurer or myself and we will reimburse you for the
fee. Please visit to register and find out more.
Community Service
The Community Service Team is looking at our next quarterly service project. Rotarian Dave Super sent email to membership to send project forms to local non-profits to come up with projects for our service days, January 30 and February 6. So far, we only have two projects - Painting at Meals on Wheels (1/30) and deck replacement for Habitat for Humanity at Pocono Country Place (2/6). If you have a project, please get information to the Community Service Team so we can schedule accordingly.
District 7410 Stay at Home Auction
The District 7410 Virtual Fundraiser will be a stay at home auction. There was previous discussion about having a gala but it will be just an auction. The district is requesting donations of goods and services to be put up for auction and sponsorships. Across the district the usual localized Club fundraisers that people attend in large groups have been severely reduced and so we are working together to fundraise by launching a Silent auction between February 1, 2021 and finishing on March 14, 2021.  The auction hopes to raise $110,000 for The Rotary foundation Annual Fund and $30,000 for the Polio Eradication Fund of Rotary International. Any success over an above our goals will be used in our local clubs to match funds for local projects in our communities. After Feb 1, visit to place your bid on some exciting items - something for everyone! Our Stroudsburgs reps for this event are President Cleo Jarvis and Rotarians Stacy Rodriguez and Ann Super.
