Do You Know The 4-WAY Test?
Did you know that one of the most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics in the world is the Rotary "4-Way Test?" It was created by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932 when he was asked to take charge of the Chicago based Club Aluminum Company. The company was struggling due to financial difficulties caused by the depression and was facing bankruptcy.
Rotarian Taylor while looking for a way to save the company, drafted a 24-word code of ethics for all employees to follow in their business and professional lives. It was named the 4-Way Test and became the guide for all relationships with dealers and customers. The survival of the company was credited to this simple philosophy.
The 4-Way Test was adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has been translated into more than 100 languages and included in thousands of publications.  Let us live by the 4-Way Test.
"Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

All the Best…

Hike for Polio
Last week Rotarian Owen Standley from the Johnston-Sunset Rotary Club gave an interesting presentation on his upcoming trip "Owen's Odyssey". He is setting off to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine on a 100 day campaign. His goal to raise $100K to put towards the Rotary campaign to eradicate polio. Whatever is raised will be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melissa Gates Foundation. Our club will meet him in Delaware Water Gap for a respite on his travel and present a donation from what we have raised through our individual mail in contributions. You can follow his journey on Fundraiser | Owen's Odyssey (hikeforpolio.org or FB  Raise for Rotary Owen's Odyssey: A Hike for Polio.
Lovin' Lunch
As we are already into our 3rd month of meeting virtually and NOT spending our $15 weekly for lunch, how about donating some of that lunch money to share some “Lovin’ Lunch” with others?

An ad hoc committee developed a list of community organizations whose sole purpose is to help others. We want to treat them to lunch to say “Thank you for all you do”. Organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Family Promise and Angels Closet, just to name a few. We need your help to purchase lunch. We also hope to add the PATH guests to our mission and possible those staying at Paul’s House. Rotarian Ann Super and PDG Karen DeMatteo presented a luncheon to the staff on Meals on Wheels and next week we will be offering lunches to Crossroads/Street to Feet and Light of the World Church.

How do we accomplish this? Currently the board has decided that we won’t be back to meeting for lunch until April 1. If every member donated just $15, we would have over $1800. That would provide one lunch for everyone on our list, not to mention we will purchase the food from our local restaurants that support us like Sycamore Grill, The Willow Tree, and others.

Could we take this one step further? We had a speaker on February 25th, Rotarian Owen Standley, who will be walking the entire Appalachian Trail to raise $100,000 for Polio. When Owen comes into our area in May, we plan to “host” him and do all that we can to make him comfortable on his stopover. How awesome would it be to also have a donation for Polio to present to him at that time! If you have NOT made a donation to the End Polio Campaign in this Rotary year, please consider a $15 or $30 donation at this time.

You can mail a check to “Stroudsburgs Rotary” @ P.O. Box 365 Stroudsburg PA 18360. Please note “Lovin’ Lunch” and/or “Polio” on the check with amount for each.

If you wish to use a credit card to make your contribution, let us know how much and our treasurer will send you an invoice through Clubrunner that will allow you to use a card.
Keep in mind however that we will pay some small fees.

We already have enough for our first “Lovin’ Lunch” which we presented to Meals on Wheels this week. It would be so great to say “Thank You” to all of these worthy organizations, so STEP UP ROTARIANS and let’s show some love as we Open Opportunities!
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a way for Rotarians to come
together and learn more about Rotary and leadership that will
benefit not only as they navigate Rotary, but also in their everyday lives.

The sessions are broken into I, II, III and Graduate courses that can
be taken over the course of one or several years. With our current
situation, sessions are now being held virtually rather than in person.

There are 2 upcoming RLIs that you can attend as a first timer with
session I, or to continue from a session you might have taken in the
past. The next are Saturday March 6 and March 13
and from 9am to 2pm right in your own home. The cost is $25 which
we ask that you pay upfront when you register. Then after you attend the session,
submit your receipt to our treasurer or myself and we will reimburse you for the
fee. Please visit rlinea.org to register and find out more.
District 7410 Stay at Home Auction
The District 7410 Virtual Fundraiser is a stay at home auction. The district is requesting donations of goods and services to be put up for auction and sponsorships. Across the district the usual localized Club fundraisers that people attend in large groups have been severely reduced and so we are working together to fundraise with a Silent auction between February 1, 2021 and March 14, 2021. The auction hopes to raise $110,000 for The Rotary foundation Annual Fund and $30,000 for the Polio Eradication Fund of Rotary International. Any success over and above our goals will be used in our local clubs to match funds for local projects in our communities. The auction is live now so visit  trellis.org/rotaryauction to place your bid on some exciting items - something for everyone! Our Stroudsburgs reps for this event are President Cleo Jarvis and Rotarians Stacy Rodriguez and Ann Super. Be sure to visit often because new items will be added until right before the auction closes. Many exciting opportunities!
