Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau
Chris Barrett from the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau came to speak at our club about tourism in the area.  The Pocono Mountains is a four season destination with over 28.9 million people visiting yearly.  We are the most driven to state in the country.
He shared an EXCLUSIVE with our club...the brand new Pocono Mountains Magazine!  The magazine has not been made available in print in years!
The Pocono brand is very strong and well known around the country.  Chris talked to us more about the Pick Up the Poconos campaign as an outreach project of the bureau.  Pick Up the Poconos is designed to reduce litter in the region.  Since launching in the Spring of 2018, the campaign has grown in popularity and gained notoriety for its efforts.  It goes beyond trying to simply reduce litter to give a great impression to visitors--it's keeping the Earth pristine for generations to come, working with other local businesses to improve the quality of life in the Poconos, showing that the tourism cares and producing a high sense of pride in the community.    Over 2,600 bags of trash was picked up the first half of the year and there is now legislation that has increase fines for littering.   It is no a $1,000 fine and 40 hours of community services.
Spring Fling
What a great time the Spring Fling was!  It was filled with fellowship and laughter as we celebrated President Lucille.  There was trivia, some great singing and reminiscing over the past years speakers and events.  Be sure to check the photo album here!
