Good Vibes and the Four Way Test
I often find myself hoping for… sending good vibes or wishing for family and friends to have joy, peace and love.  Lately however, I have been more inclusive by extending my circle of good vibes to every person on planet earth. As I do so… I imagine that every individual does the same and that the vibes are spreading into my community, state, country and the entire world. I visualize the planet radiating with joy and love.
Remembering that I am connected with others through Spirit helps me to be aware in my interactions. I also find that I can extend that same connection through Rotary’s Four Way Test.
  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
These questions can be applied to every aspect of life. What a wonderful world we would leave as our legacy if our youth witnessed us applying the Four Way Test and sending good vibes to everyone.
Sending HeartLight to you all…

Preserving Local History
For the past 99 years, the Monroe County Historical Association (MCHA) has amassed a large collection of photographs and postcards. The organization receives photograph and postcard donations on a weekly basis and the cost to properly preserve these contributions increases. Thanks to our grant, MCHA will purchase archival polyester sleeve protectors for the photograph and postcard collections. These sleeve protectors safeguard photographs, postcards, and other items from dust, dirt, and scratches during storage and/or while handling. The sleeves are made of an acid-free material to ensure that neither the sleeve nor the adjacent print would chemically react with the print. Preserving these local images will ensure that the museum and library collections can be accessible to the public while being preserved for future generations.
Virtual Classrooms Global Grant
On Monday August 24, we received notice that our Global Grant application, entitled, “Providing Virtual Classrooms to Poverty Stricken Pre-Kindergarten Children Impacted by COVID-19”, was approved. The total amount of grant is $33,750 which includes $15,000 from Rotary International, $11,250 from our District 7410, $4,200 from our own Rotary Club, and a total of $3,675 from four other Rotary clubs in our county. We teamed with the Blakeslee, Mt. Pocono, Pocono Mountains, and West End Rotary Clubs on this initiative. Funding will be provided to Pocono Services for Families and Children in direct support of their Head start programs located in East Stroudsburg and Tobyhanna Township. The project will provide virtual classroom capability to Pre-K classes, ensuring these children meet the county’s school districts Kindergarten readiness requirements. This program has another goal of improving adult literacy because of the on-line and continuing education components of this program. Committee members Dave Super, Jim Becker, Karen Bastidas and Karen DeMatteo will oversee this project for the next year.
