Women's Resources
Lauren Peterson, Executive Director of Women's Resources in Monroe County, presented a very informative discussion on various initiatives happening locally. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month so the timing was very appropriate. Domestic Violence touches everyone and knows no boundaries - not limited by gender, economic status, age, sexual orientation or any other classification. Our local agency takes great pride in maintaining confidentiality and thus gains trust of clients so they can overcome their situation. COVID had a tremendous impact on the increasing number of calls. Lauren reviewed the Power and Control Wheel which increased awareness of identifying various DV scenarios. If you know someone who needs help, encourage them to contact Women's Resources. Don't judge or place conditions on their friendship. They need your support. This is a free service and they rely on donations and fundraiser as a significant source of financial resources. Three event coming up in October to build awareness and generate funds are 10/17 Hops for Hope; 10/20 Candlelight Vigil at Courthouse Square in Stroudsburg and 10/28 Art Event at Pocono Cinema. That is already on display and closes the Butterfly Release for Peace event. For more information, visit  Women's Resources of Monroe County – Providing a safe and caring environment for anyone whose life has been impacted by domestic and sexual violence. (wrmonroe.org).
RLI

Fellow Rotarians, new and not so new, as Fall approaches so do our Rotary Leadership Institute
Classes.  Our club has budgeted for quite a few members to attend either virtually to one of the 4 upcoming events or in person right here in our own District.
Please visit www.rlinea.org to view the dates and sign up.  If you are a new member or have never taken the sessions before, you would sign up for
Part I. If you have already completed Part I then you would move onto II or III.  These are usually from 9 am to 2pm if virtually and the in person session will begin at 8am with breakfast.
Please let the Membership Team know when you sign up as your registration will be required to reimburse you for attendance. This is a great way to learn more about Rotary, leadership and get to know other Rotarians from the Northeast. District 7410 will be hosting an in-person session on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 Lackawanna College Angeli Hall 501 Vine Street Scranton, PA 18509 The cost is $90 per attendee and includes breakfast and lunch.

Feel free to reach out to the Membership Team with any questions. karenandrotary@gmail.com
Reverse Raffle
Our biggest fundraiser, The Reverse Raffle, will once again be held at the Armory, 271 Washington St, East Stroudsburg, PA. 200 tickets are available. The top three cash prizes are $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000. To make the event more interesting, smaller prizes are also needed. If you are willing to donate, please see Don Hannig about items such as gift certificates or items from local stores, businesses or restaurants.  These prizes make for a more interesting event as who doesn't like to win something? Please help make this a successful event by purchasing tickets, donating or coordinating with a local business or restaurant to make a donation. The raffle will be held November 7, 2021. More information will be available as we get closer.
Roadside Cleanup
Rotarians Dave Fox, Pete Andrews, John Beljean, Kate Jendral, Ashe Prawl and his girlfriend Rose, Zerla Bartolome, Gene Prospero, Dave and Ann Super joined forces to participate in the semi-annual Roadside Cleanup on October 16, 2021. This is a longtime partnership with PenDot. Many hands were needed to make this a successful effort and there will be another opportunity in the Spring. Gene Prospero is the Lead for this important initiative. Stay tuned for more information later!
Eagle Scouts
President Don Hannig requested support for members to represent Stroudsburgs Rotary at any upcoming Court of Honor presentation for Eagle Scouts in our area. Rotarian Clarence "Murph" Murphy faithfully represented Stroudsburgs Rotary for over 25 years. Now they're requesting others to share in this experience. Let President Don or Rotarian Ed Schaefer know if you are willing to represent Stroudsburgs Rotary at this most important milestone event for Scouts who worked so diligently. So far we have done 7 and have 1 coming up.
