"..start with a single step with conviction and purpose... embrace the power of decision, the strength of will and the determination to force ourselves to get things done. Because in the end it's not about the obstacles we face but about the decisions we make in the face of those obstacles.  And that my friend, is the true essence of success." ~Jim Rohn

Recap July 18, 2024
Last Week's Meeting
Past President Dave Woods announced Amy Leiser as the recipient of the Rotarian of the Year 2023-24. Well-deserved for all of her service with RYLA, jumping into the secretary position and her position as secretary on the Foundation Board. Congratulations!!!
_____________

On a sad note, Chuck Niclaus will be moving away, and he came last week to say his goodbyes.  He will be missed.

______________

President Stacy shared a PowerPoint outlining Stroudsburgs Rotary 2024-25 goals and how we plan to implement Rotary International's Action Plan.
PowerPoint will be emailed.
I appreciate the feedback I have received from Rotarians. Let's keep the conversations rolling.

Conversation with Sycamore - Our attendance is low, granted it is summertime, however these factors also come into play when we talk about replacing one lunch meeting with one breakfast meeting.
Please reply to this email if you will be attending lunch so they do not over cook.  They are cooking for 30 but at times we have had 20-22.

When we have a breakfast meeting, those that cannot or choose not to attend could eat at the Sycamore Grill in the restaurant.  The restaurant will be open and there is a side section that Rotarians as a group could sit together and be served.  You will order off the regular menu.  If you choose, a group could patron another restaurant too.

_____________
A big thank you to Chiffon Bourjolly for stepping into our social media chair position.  An enormous addition to getting the word out and Rotary's exposure to the public.
Shantelle Davis, owner of SJ Media Consulting Management Services will be coming on board to advise and oversee the Social Media area.  We had an extremely productive 1st meeting and we received invaluable information from Shantelle.  Chiffon and Leslie did their homework and have implemented so much, we are ready for action.
______________

Stroudsburgs Rotary Paul Harris Challenge - earn your 1st Paul Harris or as a multiple donor recipient.
The winner of the 1st check received towards receiving a Paul Harris was none other than Peter Andrews. He missed the meeting due to traffic but drove to Sycamore to hand in his check and win a prize. Not too competitive. lol
We have received 3 checks so far, there is a cap placed on the number of points that will be matched so get your checks in soon.
We will honor any birthday/anniversary money received in July if it brings you to your Paul Harris.

District Update
Rotary District 71410 just released this information on the Global Grant that we are a part of:
Today is a good day.
The water filtration systems that our District and Clubs collaborated on with others in a Global Grant have arrived on station in Zaporishzhia Ukraine.  They have been immediately forwarded to the five (5) local communities of Shyrokivska, Mykhailivska, Novomykolaivska, Preobrazhenska and Bilenkivska.  Their arrival was covered by the local municipal TV channel/station.
When I shower tonight, and drink some of the fresh clean water from our tap before bed, I will feel fulfilled that our friends in Ukraine can now do the same.  The simple things in life. “The Magic of Rotary”
David Palmer, Chair
Rotary District 7410, International Service Chair

We are looking for sponsors to help defray some of the expenses so we can keep costs in line for attendees.

50/50-With 9 cards left Dave Yarosh picked for the Queen but he did not succeed.  $? rolls over!

We started a new way of giving back the 50/50.

50% of that days money will go to the club.

The other 50% will be split 2/3 and 1/3.

2/3 of the 50% will be rolled over like before. However,
1/3 of the 50% will be given back to the person that picked the card.

That way if you got chosen to pick for the Queen you will win a few dollars. Sharing the joy.

Example:
$60 in take

50% for club - $30
The other 50% gets split:
2/3 gets rolled over - $20
1/3 gets paid out to person -$10
