Recap: Last week we had a wonderful turnout (over 60 attendees, with 20 of those as our guests) as we acknowledged our Interact essay award winner, Casimir Morgan. We heard from Sergie Burton, a prior scholarship award winner and awarded him his last scholarship installment. Very proud to announce there were 7 current scholarship recipients; Evelina Ogrodniczuk, Zoey Delaney, Paraskevi Briegel, Emma Shomberg, Callie Falzone, Nathaniel McIntyre, and Selin Bacaz. Congratulations to all the recipients for their wonderful accomplishments, and may you continue to make an impact at your colleges/university and society. PDG Karen DeMatteo had the honor of presenting Rotarian Amy Leiser with Rotary District's Distinguished Service Award. It is well deserved Amy. Twelve years ago Amy was asked by Karen to help restart our youth leadership program and has been volunteering as co-chair with RYLA ever since. "I had no idea how fulfilling this job would be. Through RYLA, I have met the best students and fellow Rotarians across Northeast PA. Their commitment to one another and their sense of leadership through cooperation, communication and friendship will continue to make the world a better place, and I am humbled to have had the chance to play a small part in their lives." This my fellow Rotarians is why we volunteer. Satisfaction and fulfillment in doing our small part to help make the world a better place. We appreciate all the hard work put in by our Interact advisors, Heather Nowosad and Maura (Apologies for any incorrect spelling) Loughman. You are helping build our future leaders. Thank you!!! A Special Letter from Doris Wehe Great job to the Rotarians that have been bringing guests to our meetings. Debbie Kulick slipped in two at the evening meeting. It was wonderful how engaging Beverly (PNC Bank Manager) was and what she had to offer. " I am so happy that Debbie invited me and I finally accepted. I had closed myself off to people and I am so happy that I opened myself up to come to a meeting. I will be back. I really enjoyed myself." We look forward to it.
