Recap Aug 22, 2024
Recap -
Lunch meeting - Thank you to Tim Mulligan, CEO from Communities In School (CIS).  CIS addresses the nonacademic barriers that keep students from achieving academically.(i.e. hunger, sickness, homelessness)
Their mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
The 5 basics that CIS feels every child needs and deserves: 1) A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, 2) A safe place to learn, 3) A healthy start and a healthy future, 4) A marketable skill to use upon graduation, and 5) A chance to give back to peers and community

Evening - Thank you Leslie Perryman, from Street 2 Feet and sharing your mission with us. Street2Feet Outreach Center in Stroudsburg, PA, is a day shelter and outreach program for adults who are homeless or facing homelessness in Monroe County.  They provide showers, laundry, case management and employment opportunities. Volunteers and donations are always needed.

Fun Day at Stroudsburgs Rotary Annual Picnic-
Thank you, Dave Fox, for opening up your home and grilling for our annual picnic and Leslie Underhill for all the hard work (& Gene), planning and chicken and side dishes you & Gene provided and all Rotarians that brought delicious side dishes and desserts.  The weather was perfect for the small and intimate gathering, and some of us took a dip in the pool.
It was nice seeing Dick & Carole Ludwig  in person (not on zoom), we had a guest, Kathy Ortenzi (Ang's wife) join us too.  Lee & Chiffon Bourjolly had their nephew, Herbie in attendance from France. He is studying to be a surgeon. A very impressive young man.

Condolences
Prayers for the families of past Rotarians that have passed away. Dave Fox recently reported that Jack Persing, past President 82-83 and Mark Hodgson both passed away a few weeks ago. May they Rest In Peace.

H.S. Leadership Luncheon
We worked diligently and we are preparing for our H.S. Leadership luncheon.  Ryan Leckey is our keynote speaker, and we have our flyer ready to share.  We are looking for Rotarians to sponsor a student or two, and to start thinking about sponsorships in the community.
