President's Corner
DG Mary Ellen Bentler
Assistant Governor Bill Skinner introduced DG Mary Ellen Bentler who shared her vision for the 2021-2022 Rotary year under her leadership. Every month Rotary has a different theme and the September theme is Literacy. So what is the tallest building in the world? A library since it has so many stories. President Skekhar Mehta says to get involved in service projects. That is the best way to live. And DG Bentler follows that philosophy and encourages other Rotarians to take that path. She encouraged us to achieve the goals set in the Presidential Citation as a measure of our impact. She talked about RLI with upcoming in person and virtual classes. Plans are underway for a District dance at Shadowbrook in Tunkhannock. Stay tuned for more information. Welcome new members to Rotary. Jessica Pope is in charge of District Public Image. Reach out to her for ideas and help. District Conference will be 5/5-7/2022 in Lake Cayuga. RI Convention will be in Houston, TX 6/12-16/2022. Theme is Discover New Horizons. There is a lot to look forward to this year so keep abreast of the news in the District Newsletter and subsequent emails.
Summer Picnic
Join us for our Annual Summer PicNic
Saturday September 25th  11am to 4pm
Ray Starner's property at
1341 Beaver Valley Rd Stroudsburg
This lovely grass covered area is right next to McMicheals Creek.
Bring something to sit on... chairs/blankets and if it's warm you can
swim/walk frolic in the creek.  We will have a port-a-potty available and
plenty of parking.
The club will supply hamburgers and hotdogs with the fixins.
Plates, napkins, utensils and cups.
Lemonade and ice tea by the gallons and assorted water and other drinks.
You will want to bring a dish to share (see sign up sheet to let us know what that will be in Clubrunner)
Also a serving spoon or fork with your dish.
Your own adult beverages if you wish, it's private property so it's allowed.
We are in need of one additional grill to use for the day!  Let us know if you have one.
Feel free to bring your own picnic food if this makes you more comfortable.
Fellow Rotarians, new and not so new, as Fall approaches so do our Rotary Leadership Institute
Classes.  Our club has budgeted for quite a few members to attend either virtually to one of the 4 upcoming events or in person right here in our own District.
Please visit to view the dates and sign up.  If you are a new member or have never taken the sessions before, you would sign up for
Part I.  If you have already completed Part I then you would move onto II or III.  These are usually from 9 am to 2pm if virtually and the in person session will begin at 8am with breakfast.
Please let the Membership Team know when you sign up as your registration will be required to reimburse you for attendance.  This is a great way to learn more about Rotary, leadership and get to know other Rotarians from the north east.
Feel free to reach out to the Membership Team with any questions.
