Rotary Opens Opportunities: How to Seize Them

Throughout history, the world has faced many crises and catastrophes. From the time Rotary was founded, our members have helped those impacted to survive and recover. The latest crisis is no different.

The COVID-19 pandemic presents both challenges and opportunities for Rotarians worldwide to come together in order to engage in activities for renewal and growth. This year’s theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities, invites us to pay attention, and seize the endless opportunities in our local community to be of service, and to grow Rotary.

Stroudsburgs Rotary is more than just a club. We compose a diverse and unique family whose members place “Service Above Self”. Our bond as Rotarians opens opportunities for us to live a richer, more meaningful life—which is supported by our core values.

Rotary’s Six Avenues of Service guide our activities, including partnerships with several nonprofits who have gained a renewed appreciation for our efforts. Members of our community have also expressed appreciation for our efforts on their behalf.

Other opportunities stem from the vast number of people staying at home. They are eager for greater connections and anxious to help their communities. Stroudsburgs Rotary provides them ways to connect and serve.

Of course, with greater opportunities come challenges—such as recognizing that now is the time to look at varied types of connections which attract young people. Platforms like ZOOM have opened unique opportunities to reach both current and potential members.

Let us all reach out to family and friends and share with them the beauty and value of Rotary—which they too can bring into their lives. We especially need to connect with the young people who innately have a strong desire to serve. We need the youth to join us for the longevity of our Rotary family. Let us show them that we have avenues of service through which they can play a meaningful, purposeful role. Speak Rotary everywhere. Share the good works that you are proud of.

I know this is a great challenge but I also know we have such highly skilled and dedicated members, that we will tackle these tasks and transform them to gems.

Communities need Rotary and Rotary needs communities more than ever. Please join me in making sure that Stroudsburgs Rotary Opens Opportunities for generations to come.
