President's Corner
January is Vocational Service Month.
According to Rotary International… Vocational Service focuses on:
  • Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors, and the public.
  • The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians.
  • The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community.
During January, Rotarians are encouraged to focus on this important Avenue of Service. Engaging in discussions on Vocational Service can lead to activities that enhance the ethical consciousness and vocational skills of Rotarians, as well as tap into the gifts and talents within their communities.
Vocational Service Month is an opportunity to develop and engage in year-long vocational service activities, including Rotary Awards to community.
Please connect with Rotarian David Woods to engage in Vocational Service Activities and presentations.

Wishing You All the Best,
President Cleo MeriAbut Jarvis

Last Call for Rotary Service Day: On Saturday January 30 we will be having our quarterly Rotary Service Day. We received two requests from non-profits in our community - Meals and Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.  We have a couple more openings for the Habitat project.  Contact Dave Super at dsuper80@yahoo.com ASAP if you are interested in helping.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student of the Year
Last week, three amazing students shared their latest adventure with us. Dr. Kim Yarnall introduced these three students who shared their passion and commitment to the LLS agency. Ashley Filipkowski (Dr. Yarnell's daughter), Alex Hafler and Angie Espinoza have joined forces to form Team 3A2021. Their commitment is to raise $50K or more to get a research grant to help cure blood cancers. LLS also helps quality of life for families. In 1964, 5 year survival rate was 3%, today is is 90%. And these young people are committed to being part of the solution to eradicate it altogether. One of their initiatives is a virtual yard sale on Kim Yarnall's Facebook page. There will be a Dine and Donate at Panera Bread on 210 Mission Drive in Stroudsburg on 1/31 from 408PM. The students have a Facebook page and website Team 3A201.com for more information. By the way, Angie is also the Stroudsburgs Rotary Interact Club President at Monroe Career and Technical Institute. It is rewarding to see the enthusiasm and passion of these young people who strive to make positive change for people afflicted with Leukemia and Lymphoma and their families.

District 7410 Stay at Home Auction
The District 7410 Virtual Fundraiser will be a stay at home auction. There was previous discussion about having a gala but it will be just an auction. The district is requesting donations of goods and services to be put up for auction and sponsorships. Across the district the usual localized Club fundraisers that people attend in large groups have been severely reduced and so we are working together to fundraise by launching a Silent auction between February 1, 2021 and finishing on March 14, 2021.  The auction hopes to raise $110,000 for The Rotary foundation Annual Fund and $30,000 for the Polio Eradication Fund of Rotary International. Any success over an above our goals will be used in our local clubs to match funds for local projects in our communities. After Feb 1, visit  trellis.org/rotaryauction to place your bid on some exciting items - something for everyone! Our Stroudsburgs reps for this event are President Cleo Jarvis and Rotarians Stacy Rodriguez and Ann Super.
