Stroudsburgs Rotary:  99 Years Strong
On May 1, 2021—Stroudsburgs Rotary will commemorate 99 Years of Service. And boy is there a lot to celebrate! Here are some details.

A group of Stroudsburg businessmen chartered the Rotary Club of the Stroudsburgs on May 1, 1922. The club served both East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg. It was a "men only" service club from 1922 until 1986. Women were sponsored for membership in 1987. A few years ago, the name was adjusted to reflect the changes in Rotary’s image and became Stroudsburgs Rotary.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Therefore, Stroudsburgs Rotary members collectively develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence.  Also supported are programs that provide educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals.

In keeping with the Rotary motto Service Above Self—Stroudsburgs Rotary members meet weekly for lunch to fellowship and further the group’s service-based goals and objectives. There is also a Satellite group which meets in the evening.

Stroudsburgs Rotary conducts "Service Projects" on National, International and Local levels.
Here are just a few examples…
*Shelter Box                                                                      *India Pedal Cart Project
*Packs for Backs                                                               *Habitat for Humanity
*Project Healing Waters                                                    *Route 80 Roadside Clean up
*Liberia Mommy Kit Project                                            *Equilibrium Child Therapy Horse Trailer
*Salvation Army Bell Ringing                                          *Downtown Stroudsburg Clean up
*Peru Sewing Machine Project                                         *Cancer Patient Distraction Therapy Project
*Pocono Alliance All Inclusive Playground                      *Lovin’ Lunches

Let’s give ourselves a pat on the back and celebrate providing excellent Service 99 Years Strong.
Happy Anniversary Stroudsburgs Rotary

All the Best,
President Cleo MeriAbut Jarvis

New Storage Location
Special thanks to Rotarian Gene Prospero for helping Stroudsburgs Rotary relocate years worth of supplies for events. Also special thanks to PDG Karen DeMatteo and husband Lou for storing all these materials for all these years. Monroe County Meals on Wheels has graciously provided storage space for us. But, one thing that they found is that the sandwich boards for the Spaghetti Dinner are missing. Anybody know where they are.

Fellowship Opportunities
President Cleo gave us an awesome presentation on Rotary Fellowships. There are currently 91 fellowships of people who gather together to share information, common interests and shared passions. There are sports related, cultural, health opportunities to name a few. Non-Rotarians can be invited to participate. There are established fellowships and possibilities to start one. Joining a fellowship helps participants make lasting relationships outside their own club, district or even country.
