Featured Speaker & Announcements
Chief of Staff Taylor Munoz
Chief of Staff for Senator Mario Scavello came to speak to our club about the needs that Monroe County is currently facing and projects that are in place.  He discussed the proposal of full elimination of property taxes but how that would increase sales tax if it was eliminated.  Taylor also talked about the collaboration with the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau on the Pick Up the Poconos campaign.  Other topics that he discussed were trying to have an all day Vo-Tech school instead of having students bussed to their home school then to vo-tech then back to the home school and then home again.  Preparing the students for the jobs now after school is important if the route of post-secondary education is not for them.
Taylor discussed heavily all of the construction projects that are currently taking place and that are planned for the future.  The key being that one part can not start unless another area is completed first.  As frustrating as roundabouts are, he did say that in certain areas its better than a traffic light, it keeps traffic moving, and helps reduce speeding.  Lastly, he talked about ways to reduce or eliminate school taxes for older residents.
