Rotarians Make Amazing Things Happen
Although most people believe that effective Healthcare is everyone’s right… reports reveal that a daunting 400 million plus people around the world either cannot afford or don’t have access to even basic health care.
The repercussion is disease which result in pain, and poverty for millions worldwide. Therefore, treating and preventing disease is very important to Rotarians who spearhead or partner on projects both large and small… such as setting up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities. Rotarians also design and build infrastructure that allow doctors, patients, and governments to work together.  Additionally, Rotarians work to combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. And because prevention is paramount, Rotarians also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care.
Furthermore, in order to affect sustainable change, Rotarians educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases.
Kudos Rotarians!

Polio Eradication
In recognition of Polio Eradication Month, Dave Yarosh shared interesting facts. Did you know that Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 30 years. Since 1979, we have vaccinated more than 2.5 billion children. Globally, there are only 2 countries left that have any cases of polio. Rotary rocks!
Helping Hands Noramise
Rosedanie Cadet, Rotarian from San Juan Islands, WA shared information
about Helping Hands Noramise's extensive efforts in Haiti. A native Haitian, Cadet is working to improve conditions through nutrition education, public health and sanitation initiatives and school gardens at two locations in Haiti. Currently, Cadet is interning locally at Josie Porter's to discover agricultural innovations to employ in Haiti. As an extra bonus, we had a banner exchange with District 5050 Friday Harbor, WA.
