April is Environment Month

How Rotary protects our planet

Rotary enables our members and their community partners to take action by:

  • Protecting and restoring land, coastal, marine, and freshwater resources
  • Enhancing the capacity of communities to support natural resource management and conservation
  • Supporting sustainable agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture practices
  • Addressing the cause of climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases
  • Strengthening ecosystems and communities affected by climate change
  • Supporting education initiatives that promote behavior that protects the environment
  • Advocating for sustainable consumption to build an economy that uses resources more efficiently
  • Addressing environmental public health concerns

Recap:
Michelle Bisbing, President of the Pocono Mountains Economic Development Corporations (PMEDC). Michelle shared many of the services provided by PMEDC to help companies and organizations succeed and thrive in Monroe County PA, including: site selection & development; infrastructure support; access to capital; and, connections to partners across the region. Michelle highlighted Career Ready Monroe/Career Pathways program proving business experiences for high school students across all four (4) school districts in Monroe County, PMEDC as an up-to-date resource for demographic data, including a monthly economic overview, and more information on the topic of Data Centers – why the Northeast is targeted as a home for new Centers and some of the advances in technology helping lessen potential environmental impacts. ~Written by Rose London
 
 
ROTARIANS IN ACTION:
Rotarians giving back at Valor Easter Meal Packing and Mady's Kitchen.  Your service is appreciated by the organizations, the recipients and our Rotary club.  Proud to be of service! Thank you for packing, cooking, serving, and cleanup. Keep up the good work!
Volunteers for both events: Community Chair, Tiffany Lyons, Russel Little, John Dennis, Leslie Underhill, Gene Prospero, Dave Yarosh, Danica Hartenfels. Chair of Mady's Kitchen, Debbie Kulick, Gail Kulick & fiance Ed, Zerla Bartolome, Juliette Caines, Lance Godfrey and his 8 yr old granddaughter, Mike Uklenowich, Stacy Rodriguez, proposed member Cathy Sterling and her husband Peter, and two youth, one from Stroudsburg and one from the Church.  Apologies for anyone that was not acknowledged.
 
       
 
 
Community Events
On going Community Service
 
1) Valor Stand Down at Dansbury Park - 2nd Sunday of every month.  Greatest time to help is unloading (9:30am) and loading (12:25pm)
 
2) Little Free Libraries - bring any unwanted books especially children's books, or bring books to Eastern Monroe Public Library.
 
For Valor Stand Down and Little Libraries - Contact Leslie Underhill if you need further information.
 
3) Stroudsburg Wesleyan Food Pantry - 1st and 3rd Friday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the church. Mike Gonzalez 570-801-0535
 
4) Jo's Food Pantry - Light of the World Church - 1st Friday of the month 9-11am - Ida Matthew 570-242-3663

District 7410 challenge -  Our District has reached the requirement to maintain 1100 active membersAll clubs are encouraged to continue in their efforts of bringing in new members who will be engaged in joining our Rotary family.  Let's aim for 10 before June 15, we are half way there

Please consider registering early to save your space and at a reduced cost of $295.00. This early registration price is available until December 15th. We have a ghost tour on Friday that you can sign up for an additional cost.
