Recap Feb 27, 2025
Recap -
Last week we had the pleasure of listening to Don Oriolo, talk about his journey through the years in art, music, & productions.  We learned about his non profit organization Blue Arrow which houses animal rescues. He finished with drawing a picture of Felix the Cat, which his father, Joe Oriolo had co-founded along with Casper.

President Stacy presented Don Oriolo with Felix the Cat balloon twisting sculptures, and the famous maple syrup from Frank Hertings' son's farm as a thank you.

Tuesday night the Essay committee met at WillowTree, had dinner, evaluated, discussed, and pick the essay winners. In attendance were: Frank Herting, Pat Sayler, V.P. Mike Raub, Chair Timaki Johnson, Dave Yarosh and, Pres Stacy. Leslie Underhill was away and sent in her responses.  The committee worked very hard in bringing about the pro's and cons and have come up with a first, second and third winner.  The first place winner will be elevated to District in a chance to win a grand prize of $1000.

Thank you all that donated to the wildfires. We raised $895, there was a 3% deduction for admin fees and a check in the total of $868.15 was sent by Marlo to the LA District.

Friday Night is Smithfields Rotary Beer Tasting at Shawnee Brewery. If you can, please join in on some fellowship for their fundraising event. Friday March 7, 6:30-9:30pm $30 presale, $35 at the door

District Conference - Focus on Peace Building - April 4-6
Hershey Park

RYLA 2025 will be held Sunday, June 15th through Thursday, June 19th, 2025, at Keystone College in LaPlume, PA.
For budgeting purposes, the cost per student is $375.00, which is an incredible value for all this 5-day/4-night program offers. The clubs sponsor the students.
RYLA provides leadership training to area young people. The schedule is full of activities that engage students physically, mentally, and emotionally to strengthen their relationship skills, build their self-confidence, and give them the tools they need to be leaders.

Again this year, the application will be available online. Applications are open and the link can be found on the website: https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50202/sitepage/ryla
