Kristen Battle, Graduate of Susquehanna University with an Elementary Education Degree. Taught in West Virginia and retired to raise her family of 6 kids. Now they are all grown Kris finds worth in being a Professional Volunteer, much to her husband's shagrin. She is the Chair of I-80 Project Impact AAA Task Force, Christian Education Chair, Superintendent of Sunday School, and Council Secretary at St  John's ELCA in Stroudsburg, plus numerous sports and music committees throughout her kids high school and college careers. 

She is a new Grandmother of a two month old baby boy and very estatic. An advid baker known for her 20 different Christmas cookies and Banana Pudding Cupcakes. 

Since working on the I-80 Task Force now has more knowledge of highway design than ever imagined.

Dr. Cohen became a faculty member at East Stroudsburg University in 1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Penn State University, a master’s in education from Temple University and a master’s and doctorate in physics and atmospheric science from Drexel University.  Dr. Cohen also holds Pennsylvania teacher certification in grades 7-12 for mathematics, general science, physics, and earth and space science.

His research focus is the structure of winter storms, with approximately 20 scientific presentations and several articles. Dr. Cohen is also active in both physics education and teacher education, authoring textbooks, manuals and book chapters, including the textbooks currently being used in three courses at ESU, and more than 35 presentations.  His diverse interests are reflected in his numerous memberships, from the American Meteorology Society to the National Science Teachers Association and the Association for Science Teacher Education.

Since arriving at ESU, he has taught 20 different undergraduate and graduate courses in three departments. He has been instrumental in the development of the teacher preparation curricula in the secondary science areas of general science, physics, and earth and space science, for which he has authored three accreditation reports. He has been a member of numerous university and department committees, served as the president of ESU’s University Senate, and is currently the chair of ESU's Academic Chairs Council and vice-president of the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association. During the 2016 spring semester, Dr. Cohen received the “ESyou” employee of the year award.

Tiffany Black is the Executive Director at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm.  Tiffany began working in the field of living history as a child at a site her parents built in Ohio. She holds a degree in Interpretive Services and Environmental Studies and has been a park ranger at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area where she served for 8 years as both a cultural history interpreter and environmental educator. She was Interpretive Staff Supervisor at Waterloo Village in New Jersey and has worked for several Audubon Organizations throughout the country. Tiffany left the field of Living History for 12 years and was a marine scientist with the state of FL before coming  back to PA (she missed the trees) in 2019 and getting the job at Quiet Valley.

Joel is a native of Sussex County, New Jersey, spending the majority of his time outdoors. He pursued a double major in Biology and Natural Resource Management at Rutgers University, graduating in 2006. After school, he tried his hand at several different professions before landing at a family-owned longboard skateboard business. Focusing on product development and management, Joel helped grow the company for 8 years. When the opportunity presented itself, he would lateral into the outdoor industry, holding management and marketing positions with Griffin and Howe. After 3 years at Griffin and Howe, it was time for a change. Early in 2019, Joel opted to return to his biology/ecology roots, taking a position with Pocono Environmental Education Center as Director of Development. Joel lives in Sandsyton Township with his wife and two kids. You are most likely to run into him outside, hunting, fishing, kayaking, or hiking. While at home, he spends time gardening and in his wood/metal shop working on whatever the latest project may be.
